The Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is a dual-band 802.11ac router that claims faster speeds than previous triple-stream routers.
The Nighthawk uses the AC1750 protocol to deliver 1,750Mbps dual-band wireless speeds to your laptop or gaming PC on both bands.
The 2.4GHz frequency range (450Mbps) is used for non-intensive operations like internet browsing, whereas the 5GHz frequency band is used for more demanding applications like streaming or gaming (1,300Mbps).
- Recommended for up to 25 devices: Reliably stream videos, play games, surf the internet, and connect smart home devices
- Wired Ethernet ports: Plug in computers, game consoles, streaming players, and other nearby wired devices with 4 x 1 gigabit Ethernet ports
- Loaded with advanced technology: Designed with a 1GHz dual core processor, 3 amplified antennas, Beamforming plus, Dynamic QoS, Smart Connect, and more
- USB connections: Share a storage drive or printer with any connected device or create a personal cloud storage to access from anywhere, using the 1 x 3.0 USB port
- Safe & secure: Supports WPA2 wireless security protocols. Includes Guest Wi-Fi access, DOS, Firewall, VPN, and more
It uses Beamforming technology, which improves wireless range and signals focus, making mobile device connections speedier.
The Nighthawk AC1750 is a serious piece of home networking hardware, with a strong 1GHz dual-core processor, a USB 3.0 connector for quick HDD access, and three detachable antennas.

Performance
The Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is a high-performing storage device. When tested through USB 3.0, the router performed admirably on FAT32 and NTFS file systems, beating comparable routers in its class.
For NTFS files, it obtained outstanding read and write rates of 59.1 MB/s Read and 38.5 MB/s Write, and nearly comparable results for FAT 32 files of 59.8 Read and 36.9 Write.
The TP-Link Archer C8 generated virtually equal results on the same set of files: NTFS formats read at 25.3 MB/s and write at 16.8 MB/s; FAT 32 has a read speed of 37.2 MB/s and a write speed of 23.9 MB/s.
Despite this, the R6700 surpasses its closest competitors by a wide margin.
The next test is to see the 5GHz throughput speed from the router to a laptop with an Intel AC-7265 (2 2 802.11ac) Wi-Fi card.
Surprisingly, at 10 and 25 feet, the Netgear Nighthawk R6700 outscored most dual-band routers (some of which cost much more).
At a distance of 10 feet, the R6700 recorded the highest throughput (524MB/s). At a distance of 25 feet, the same findings were obtained, with the R6700 surpassing its competitors at both distances.
Overall, the Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 uses the 802.11ac standard to provide class-leading wifi speeds and is a great example of the tremendous gains made in previous versions.
It’s cheap, and the range of performance is considerably superior. While 802.11ac was the most popular technology a year ago, it has since evolved with considerable performance improvements.
As a result, this is the best router on the market given its high performance but the low price.
Design
The housing design and color profile of the Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is identical to those of the original Nighthawk model.
Like its bigger brother, the Nighthawk R7000, the R6700 is tough and has a wide base with rubber feet to keep it from sliding around on any surface.
You won’t have to worry about running out of desk space with Netgear routers because they can all be wall-mounted, which could be an advantage or drawback depending on your preferences.
Netgear’s appearance and internal hardware are the same in the R6700 and the popular Nighthawk R7000 AC1900. The R7000 has two USB ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0), but the R6700 only has one USB 3.0 port.
Longer and fatter antennas with Beamforming + are also used in the R6700 to boost signal range, improve signal coverage, and eliminate dead spots in large households.
The R6700’s antennas are both adjustable and removable, a big advance over the AC1750’s antennas, which are only adjustable but not replaceable.
While the latter saves money, if one of the antennas breaks and needs to be replaced, it becomes costly.
A cluster of 12 LEDs on the front panel conveys the router’s status information to the user.
Most of the time, a large number of lights seems excessive, especially with so many lights flickering on and off, but they are able to be switched off, which is useful if you want the Netgear AC1750 to be hidden in a corner.
With the exception of the Netgear Nighthawk X4, which features a 1.4GHz processor, all Nighthawk Series routers have a 1GHz processor. The router contains 256MB of RAM and 128MB of flash memory, just like its predecessors.
You can also use the Netgear Genie App to manage and monitor your router without using your PC. You can share and stream music while driving, as well as set up parental controls.
When connecting to a guest network or using a wireless extender or repeater though, the Genie App does not work.
Ease Of Use
Although this router was easy to set up right out of the box, it did require a firmware upgrade before we could complete the basic network configuration.
This software’s installation process will lead you through creating an admin password and getting started.
This router’s user interface is competent, although the design is a touch dated. You may also encounter some issues with accessing the web interface with Google Chrome.
We didn’t like the router’s QoS, or Quality of Service, because it appeared to be outdated and only allowed you to prioritize bandwidth by subjects rather than specific devices.
However, in terms of pros to this device, it is easy to access the parental control capabilities, as the AC1750 and other NetGear routers provide the most precise level of control.
These are a little more complicated to set up at first compared to other brands’ products, but once this is done they are easy to use and adjust. This router’s user interface is competent, although the design is a touch dated.

Multimedia
The Netgear AC1750 is a Wifi Router with a 1GHz Dual-Core processor for the best performance. It can reach a maximum speed of 450Mbps on the 2.4GHz frequency band, and 1300Mbps on the 5 GHz spectrum.
When combined with a decent internet connection and a good receiving device, the total speed can exceed 1750Mbps, ensuring a great internet experience for gaming or entertainment.
Another aspect of this device is that it comes with built-in iTunes for entertainment. Using your external hard drives, you may now share multimedia files saved on them across the network.
You’ll also benefit from better upstream QoS for better gaming performance.
Smartphone Connection
The Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is meant to give mobile users the fastest possible connection. Customers using Wifi frequently expressed dissatisfaction with the variances they encountered while moving around the house.
With this in mind, Netgear has redesigned this device to give smartphone users a better experience. You can now freely move around your house without experiencing lag or unexpected disconnections.
You can also backup your files over a network using the ReadySHARE feature included into this router.
Summary
The Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is undoubtedly fast, and if you’re looking for the top performance in its class at a reasonable price, it’s well worth considering.
We’d suggest it over any other router on the market because it gives constant speeds over long distances while being less expensive and more useful than quad-channel 802.11ac routers like the NETGEAR R7800 Nighthawk X4S.
Even if the software could be better, it is still usable, and the USB 3.0 performance is excellent. All of this adds up to the notion that the Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 is a router that large families should consider.
